Mr. Orestis Tsinalis

Role: Research Assistant, PhD Candidate



Orestis Tsinalis is a Research Assistant at Imperial College London working on the Digital City Exchange programme. His research within Digital City Exchange focuses on cloud-based sensor data management systems for computational urban analysis and mapping. Orestis is a PhD candidate at the Department of Computing in the Discovery Sciences Research Group under the supervision of Professor Yike Guo. His PhD research focuses on dynamics and flows in complex networks, applied to mapping and decision intelligence for digital cities.

Orestis holds an MSc in Computing Science (2011) with Distinction from Imperial College London. His MSc thesis was titled “Mobile collaborative urban sensing: Quantifying latent spatial characteristics by mining human activity patterns”. Prior to joining Imperial, Orestis received a Diploma of Engineering (MEng) in Architectural Engineering (2010) from the School of Architecture of the National Technical University of Athens, focusing on computational (parametric) design and engineering. He has also worked as an architect for architectural firms in Athens, Greece.
